Mama Midnight is more than a band, more than group of musicians, more than a show that came and went and more than a series of shows to come. Mama Midnight is an institution, a concept and most importantly an ongoing experiment.
Originally created by Jennifer Yurth, a native born Utah singer/songwriter that has been involved with local groups over the years, she has maintained a relatively low profile in contrast to the vibrant Salt Lake music scene as a whole. Which, she will be the first to tell you, is robust and thriving. She intends to show you what she means.
To her galaxy of friends and fellow musicians she brought Mama Midnight & The Sweet Surrender to The State Room in Salt Lake City in November of 2018. One night with as many stars as she could fit onstage and as many songs as they could play. It was a joyous success, never to be repeated again. That sort of cosmic alignment only comes once in a lifetime. If you were there, you will understand.
Stars that want to shine can not stay in the outer reaches for too long. Mama Midnight took some time off to redefine and recalibrate and now it’s time to come out of hiatus and come back to public life with a series of private sessions. Because her living room is too small and bars and venues are too limiting, she has partnered with a private space that is solely dedicated to supporting local talent of all kinds. The Creative Guild is located in the Millcreek area of Utah and will be the location for several private listening parties in Spring/Summer 2020. All sessions will be focused on a variety of music featuring small groups to solo artists in an intimate environment where they can be recorded in the company of the people who truly want to be a part of the experiment.
Mama Midnight is also available and delighted to do private parties and events as well. Please use the contact page to reach out and inquire about dates and availability.
“So turn off all the lights, so I can see the stars, and I will hold my breath and I’ll listen very hard for the laughter in the chest and the beating of the heart….”
